At SearchWith (accessible via the SearchWith.site website and Chrome Extension), user privacy is our core founding principle. SearchWith is architected from the ground up to operate entirely on the client side with zero telemetry, zero user tracking, and zero personal data collection.
SearchWith uses browser local storage (chrome.storage.local in the extension, or HTML5 localStorage on the website) solely to remember your user experience preferences:
This data remains strictly on your device and is never synchronized to any remote server by SearchWith.
When you execute a search, SearchWith opens your requested query directly in the third-party search engine or AI provider you chose (such as Google, DuckDuckGo, Perplexity, GitHub, etc.).
Once you navigate to an external provider, their respective privacy policy and terms of service apply. SearchWith acts purely as a direct local launcher and does not proxy or intermediate your queries.
The SearchWith Chrome Extension requests only the minimum permissions necessary for its companion features:
storage: Stores user preferences (pinned engines, theme settings) locally on your machine.sidePanel: Enables the companion search sidebar alongside your active browsing page.activeTab: Allows the side panel companion to detect the current page's domain for quick 1-click domain search and Incognito re-opening.tabs: Allows opening search queries in new tabs or routing searches to Incognito windows upon user request.scripting: Used locally to grab selected text when opening the companion sidebar from highlighted webpage content.contextMenus: Provides the convenient right-click SearchWith context menu (quick Sidebar access and packaged parallel search bundles) for highlighted text.SearchWith strictly adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy:
SearchWith is an open, user-first project. If you have questions or suggestions regarding this privacy policy, please visit our project repository or contact us via SearchWith.site.
